$13m ‘workforce boost package’ to bolster employment, businesses: NT Govt

New measures are being put in place by the Fyles Government to bolster job creation and enhance business processes through a $12.8 million “workforce boost package” under the Global Workforce Attraction Campaign.

The campaign is aimed at helping businesses find workers aged 18-45 from Australia and across the world suitable for their needs that will also expand the NT’s stagnating economy.

The marketing campaign ‘Make it to the top’ targets career climbers and those seeking to progress their lives personally and professionally, focusing on skilled and semi-skilled workers.

Businesses are being urged to load their jobs onto recruitment platforms Seek and CareerOne, downloading assets from the worker attraction toolkit to raise awareness of job opportunities and moving to the Territory for work.

Participants should include the hashtag #movetotheTerritory on social media posts throughout the campaign which lasts until the end of this year, the government said.

To further boost the campaign, grants of up to $200,000 under the government’s Flexible Workforce Solution Fund can be claimed by Territory businesses and industries that collaborate on projects that address the ongoing workforce shortage. Consortiums only need to contribute 25 percent of the total joint-project cost.

Qualified projects include regional industry workforce solutions, seasonal workforce strategies, leveraging new technology or innovation, or delivery of direct, in-country worker recruitment services, and are open for application until August 15.

“We are going out hard with our Global Worker Attraction campaign and our Flexible Workforce Solution Fund, to attract skilled workers to the Territory,” said Business Minister Paul Kirby.
