2022 Fantasy football draft prep: Rankings, NFL rookies, strategy, top 150 players by dialed-in experts

Fantasy football is still largely associated with numbers like yards gained, touchdowns scored, and receptions, but savvy owners have started to use advanced analytics to predict a player’s potential for production. Having so much data to sift through during your 2022 Fantasy football draft prep is intimidating, so finding a reliable set of 2022 Fantasy football rankings is key. If you’re trying to figure out if you should draft Christian McCaffrey or Derrick Henry early or evaluating late-round prospects like Justin Fields, Jalen Tolbert or James Cook, reliable 2022 Fantasy football advice is critical. Whether you’re hunting for a Fantasy football top 150 you can trust or position-specific rankings that can help you identify potential 2022 Fantasy football sleepers, breakouts and busts, be sure to see what the team at SportsLine has to say.

Prepared by SportsLine Fantasy experts Jacob Gibbs and RJ White, this is a must-have guide for any Fantasy player preparing for snake, auction or best ball drafts. Gibbs is a data-driven prodigy who called Patrick Mahomes’ monster 2018 season. He uses a data-driven approach that has helped him consistently provide accurate rankings at every position. He has proven to be one of the nation’s most accurate Fantasy rankers in recent years, posting the eighth-most accurate results over the past three seasons, according to Fantasy Pros.

White is SportsLine’s No. 1 NFL expert since 2017 who got his start in the Fantasy industry, with his work appearing at AOL Fanhouse, Fantasy Café and other sites prior to joining CBS Sports. This duo brings decades of fantasy experience and can give you a huge edge in your league.

The 2022 guide not only ranks the top 150 players in standard and PPR leagues, it reveals must-see sleepers, breakouts and busts, breaks down the top rookie QBs, RBs and WRs, tells you which coaching moves will translate to massive Fantasy success and gives you updated mock drafts that can guide your selections. Top 2022 fantasy football picks

The Fantasy football draft bible includes positive TD regression candidates you’ll need to know before you go on the clock including:

TE Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons: With Atlanta trading away Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley stepping away from football, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft became Atlanta’s most targeted player well ahead of schedule and produced 68 receptions for 1,026 yards. Unfortunately, his one receiving touchdown kept him from being a dominant fantasy football tight end.

“Since 2000, there have been only three players to top 100 targets and 1,000 receiving yards and have a TDR below five percent. His 2021 marked the second-highest Fantasy point output of a player with a TDR below five percent over the past 20 seasons ,” Gibbs told SportsLine. “The chances of Pitts not improving upon his one touchdown from his rookie season are next to none. The real question is how much should we expect his rate to increase?”

RB Dalvin Cook, Minnesota Vikings: “The league average TDR at the RB position was 24.6 percent in 2021. Cook’s rate was at 27 percent in 2019 and 30 percent in 2020. In 2021, it dropped to 17.5 percent. Among 18 players with at least 200 rushing attempts, Cook was the only one with a rate below 20 percent,” Gibbs said.

With Cook ranking fifth in the NFL in opportunity share (79.7 percent) and ninth in red-zone touches (47), it’s clear that he’s going to continue getting the majority of the work in Minnesota’s backfield. Given he’s had a strong history of touchdown productivity during his time as Minnesota’s No. 1, he’s a strong bet to bounce back from a six-touchdown season in 2021.
