2022 middle school football schedule released

The Coweta County Middle School Athletic League released its 2022 middle school football schedule this week.

The regular season will open on Wednesday, Sept. 21, extending seven weeks through Nov. 2, 2022.

The playoffs start on Nov. 9, and the CCMSAL championship will be on Nov. 16, 2022.

Coweta County has seven middle schools: Arnall, Bass, East Coweta, Evans, Lee, Madras and Smokey Road. Each team will play six games and have a bye week included.

The top four teams will qualify for the playoffs, and the championship game will be played at the highest seed’s high school field of choice.

Last season, the top four teams that advanced to the playoffs were Smokey Road, Madras, Evans and East Coweta. After the first round of playoffs, Smokey Road defeated Madras 48-30 to claim the championship.

Several players from that game will be heard again this season. Smokey Road’s quarterback, Rodney Colton, is expected to get some playing time on the Newnan Cougar defense this season. The Madras starting quarterback, Dylan Barber, will be the starting signal caller for The Heritage School.

The upcoming regular season schedule for 2022 includes:

Sept. 21 4:45 pm — Evans @ Arnall; Bass @ Madras; Lee @ Smokey Road; East Coweta Bye

Sept. 28 4:45 pm — Bass @ Lee; Smokey Road @ Evans; East Coweta @ Madras; Arnold Bye

October 5 4:30 pm — Arnold @ Bass; East Coweta @ Smokey Road; Madras @ Evans Madras; Lee Bye

October 12 4:30 pm — Smokey Road @ Arnall; Madras @ Lee; Bass @ East Coweta; Bye Evans

October 19 4:30 pm — East Coweta @ Arnall; Lee @ Evans; Smokey Road @ Bass; Madras Bye

October 26 4:30 pm — Arnold @ Madras; Lee @ East Coweta; [email protected]; Smokey Road Bye

November 2 4:30 pm — Arnold @ Lee; Madras @ Smokey Road; Evans @ East Coweta; Bass Bye

The teams begin their first day of conditioning on Aug. 22 and have their first official practice a week later, on Aug. 29.
