congress: Will back Congress brass pick for CM in Rajasthan: Rajendra Gudha

With Ashok Gehlot saying that he would file nomination for the Congress president’s post, some Rajasthan MLAs have started safely taking their positions in anticipation of a race to pick Gehlot’s successor as the chief minister.

Pledging allegiance to ‘the high command’, Rajendra Gudha, a minister in the Gehlot government – who is part of the six BSP MLAs the CM had brought to the Congress — has said he and his group would go by the high command’s choice in naming the next CM, even if it is Sachin Pilot. “We are with the decision of the party leadership. Whatever decision Sonia ji, Rahul ji and Priyanka ji take, we all six (MLAs who joined from BSP) will welcome it.

We are with the party. Be it Pilot Ji or even if Bharosi Lal ji (a Congress MLA) is made the CM, by Sonia ji, we are with him,” Gudha said in Jaipur while replying to the media on whether he would oppose if Sachin Pilot is made the CM. Political circles are waiting to witness the supporters of Gehlot and Pilot gearing up for their respective show of loyalty as well as some safely perching onto the fence. They also wonder who exactly would be ‘the high command’ by the time the next Rajasthan CM will decide

Meanwhile, opposition leader in the Rajya Sabha Mallikarjuna Kharge on Friday favored Rahul Gandhi to helm the Congress as its national president, ruling out any possibility of joining the race for the AICC president’s post.
