Ex-student Holly says teacher started having sex after asking for number to teach her

HOLLY, Mich. – Former high school student in Holly said her teacher began having sex with her after initially asking for her phone number so he could be her teacher, officials said.

In May, police received a complaint from a woman who said a man made inappropriate contact with her while he was her teacher at Holly Middle School from 2012-2014.

Brian Charles Pearson, 44, encouraged the student to give him her cell phone number so he could coach her and improve her performance, authorities said.

The former student said that after a few months, the texts from Pearson turned sexual.

“He then initiated a physical sexual relationship that continued into 2014,” police said in a news release.

The former student’s details matched evidence obtained from the Holly Area Schools email system, investigators said.

Pearson was placed on administrative leave pending an investigation. He eventually resigned from the district while the investigation was still in its early stages.

Pearson was arraigned Friday (Oct. 28) in 52/2 District Court in Clarkston on four counts of fourth-degree sexual misconduct, a superior court misdemeanor. The maximum penalty for the charge is two years.

Pearson was granted a $5,000 personal bond.

The next court session is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on November 7.
