Jeff Gordon divided the NASCAR community a decade ago with a “one-night stand” reference to a Halloween costume.

Halloween is a very popular national holiday in the United States. After all, who would want to pass up an opportunity to go around looking for candy? The best part is that they can dress up fancy and it’s not just for Comic Con either. Naturally, the NASCAR community doesn’t want to miss playing on the dreaded holiday. In 2011, several NASCAR drivers talked about their ideal Halloween costume, and one of them was Jeff Gordon.

he said “I had a one-night stand, one year. I was a night stand, like a lampshade on the head. Yes, it was my wife. He left a note on the night stand. Said he was having a good time”. Naturally, his double entendre-filled response drew a lot of boos from the assembled media personnel.

On the bright side, Jeff Gordon managed to get three wins on the season. The first of these came at Phoenix Raceway, which was the second race of the season. Next on the hit list was Pocono, followed by a win at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Since then, he has gone on to rack up eight more career wins in the NASCAR Cup Series.
