Jose Mourinho: ‘Mel Made Me Do It’ by Stormzy is out, featuring Jose Mourinho, Ian Wright

Artists and songwriters have a new way of promoting their songs by incorporating “big names” in the sporting arena to feature in their videos. Jose Mourinho is featured in a video of British rapper Stormzy’s “Mel Made Me Do it”, and he is not alone, with Ian Wright also coming up and playing a part, much to the delight of fans. Jose Mourinho is shown in the video with his signature finger on his lips to say, “I prefer not to speak,” which he does when he doesn’t want to say anything to the reporters after a match.

Stormzy is quite popular with a repertoire of songs, including two albums and fifteen singles. His song “Gang Signs & Prayer” was number one on the UK Albums Chart in February 2017. “Heavy is the Head” also became number one on the UK Albums Chart in December 2019.

AS Roma coach Mourinho has thanked the rapper in a tweet for making him a part of his video. The Tweet said it was great fun for Mourinho to participate in the video.

The video shows Ian Wright getting a name-check from Michaela Coel, a British actor. Ian Wright is the legendary footballer from Arsenal and features in the video.

When informed of Mourinho’s comments, Conte was less than impressed, warning his counterpart to concentrate on his own affairs before lashing out at others.

However, other sportspeople, too, have been featured in music videos in the past. The Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, appeared in a video by MC Eyez called “Smoking Fine.” He was shown walking in the streets with a shopping bag in hand when he joined the rapper in a pose. One would recall Didier Drogba in “Forever in a Day,” by Julia Channel.

Also, Leeds United’s Vinnie Jones featured in Westlife’s “Bop Bop Baby”. A Mourinho cannot appear in a Westlife video unless they completely change their style. Mourinho, today, is one of the most decorated coaches in world football.
