Ryan Cook has been named the interim head coach of the Netherlands men’s team, standing in for Ryan Campbell who suffered a cardiac arrest while on a family holiday in England last month. The Koninklijke Nederlandse Cricket Bond (KNCB), meanwhile, is hopeful of Campbell’s return to the coaching setup later this summer.

“Ryan Campbell is expected to make a full recovery and we hope to welcome him back later this summer,” the KNCB said.

Cook had previously worked with the Bangladeshi team as the fielding consultant while he is also the head coach of the Gary Kirsten Cricket Academy in Cape Town. Cook will be working with James Hilditch and Peter Borren in the coaching team, along with captain Pieter Seelaar.

Speaking about his appointment, Ryan Cook said: “I am honored to be joining the team and look forward to working with the players and coaches for the next few months. There is an exciting schedule ahead and I aim to help the team from strength to strength. ”

The Netherlands play a three-match ODI series against West Indies at home next month, with the games being part of the ICC ODI Super League. They will host England for three ODIs, followed by two T20Is against New Zealand and two ODIs against Pakistan.
